In the Bomboogie store in Verona, first impressions are everything. The moment you step through the door, your eye is drawn to a luminous wall that doesn’t just fill a space, it redefines it. A cascade of light and imagery wraps around the corner of the room, flowing naturally from the long wall to the short one, as if it were a single, large moving canvas breathing in sync with the store itself.
This is the project Macropix created for Bomboogie, a fashion brand under the Space 2000 S.p.A. group, one of the most dynamic players in the Italian retail scene. The installation features two side-by-side LED displays that together form a continuous, uninterrupted frame of light: one screen measuring 448 × 240 cm and another at 192 × 240 cm, seamlessly integrated into a single visual surface where brand logos and imagery play on a loop, turning the wall into a living, breathing design element.
In modern retail, every inch of the store communicates something. Customers don’t just buy products, they live an experience, and that experience starts before they’ve even touched a single item on the rack. An LED screen of this scale isn’t just visual communication, it’s brand identity turned into architecture. It’s the ability to update content in real time, to adapt to seasons, campaigns, and times of day, without ever disrupting the flow of the in-store experience. For a brand like Bomboogie, which builds its value partly on aesthetics and atmosphere, this technology isn’t an add-on — it’s a core part of the store’s visual language.
Installation details
Pulling off a corner display of this magnitude takes technical precision, design expertise, and the right technology. Macropix specified the Subtilis-J series — a solution purpose-built for demanding indoor environments like high-end retail, where visual performance must be flawless and the installation must integrate seamlessly into the surrounding architecture. The Verona installation spans a total display area of 6.4 × 2.4 metres, spread across two panels that form a continuous corner with no visible breaks — a striking, high-impact visual effect. Here are the key project specs:
- Product: Corner LED display
- Series: Subtilis-J
- Pixel pitch: 2.5 mm
- Total display area: 6.4 × 2.4 metres
- Configuration: Two combined screens (448 × 240 cm + 192 × 240 cm) in a continuous corner layout
The 2.5 mm pixel pitch is a critical detail: it means the individual light points that make up the image are spaced just 2.5 millimetres apart, delivering visual definition that holds up perfectly even at close range, exactly the kind of distance you’d expect at a retail entrance. The result is a sharp, smooth, colour-accurate image that meets the high standards a brand like Bomboogie demands for its campaign visuals.

When a display is truly working well, you don’t notice the technology, you notice the content. That’s the philosophy behind Macropix’s Subtilis-J series, a range of indoor LED displays designed to disappear into the environment and let the imagery take centre stage. To understand why this solution was the right call for the Bomboogie Verona project, it helps to take a closer look at what makes it tick.
Built for those who need to install, update, and keep things running long-term
The Subtilis-J is built around lightweight, compact die-cast aluminium modules — a material that strikes the ideal balance between structural strength and low weight, which matters a great deal when you’re working across large surfaces. Each module measures 480 × 640 × 75 mm and weighs approximately 25 kg/m², with a slim profile that allows for a clean, flush wall integration. The modular system offers a wide range of configuration flexibility: individual modules can be arranged freely and combined with custom-made elements, making it possible to achieve bespoke formats and geometries, including corner displays like this one. That adaptability makes it suitable not just for standard retail spaces, but for any environment with unique architectural requirements.
Visuals that command attention, right down to the finest detail
On the visual performance side, the Subtilis-J leaves nothing to chance. Brightness sits at around 650 nits — a level optimised for indoor environments with controlled lighting, yet more than sufficient to deliver full visibility and vibrant colours in any condition. Images are smooth, uniform, and completely flicker-free, thanks to a 3840 Hz refresh rate and high-level colour processing. The standout specs for day-to-day use include:
- A 140° viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, enabling optimal content visibility from a wide range of positions — ideal for an entrance area where customers are constantly on the move
- An optimal viewing distance starting from 3 metres, perfectly suited to the scale of a typical retail space
- High colour uniformity, keeping brand colours accurate and consistent across the entire display surface
Reliability and maintenance: designed for zero downtime
A display in a retail setting simply can’t afford extended periods of downtime. The Subtilis-J is built to run continuously and reliably across a temperature range of -10°C to +45°C, with optimised thermal management courtesy of its aluminium structure and integrated thermally conductive materials. Its IP40 protection rating ensures dependable performance in indoor environments, even where dust is a factor. When maintenance is needed, it can be carried out from both the front and the rear of the display. This means that even in wall-mounted or corner installations like the one at Bomboogie, technicians can step in quickly and non-invasively, without having to dismantle entire sections of the structure. The Subtilis-J is, in short, a technology built to last — to run without interruption and to adapt to the needs of brands like Bomboogie, for whom every single day the doors are open has to be nothing short of perfect.
