The installation Macropix carried out at A2A’s control room in Piazza Trento consists of a banner-format LED display with overall dimensions of 900 x 202.5 cm. The display reaches a resolution of 7200×1620 pixels, made possible by a 1.2 mm pixel pitch, among the finest available on the market for professional applications of this kind. This configuration allows a large volume of content and data to be displayed simultaneously, while maintaining an extremely high level of detail even at close range — a typical condition in control rooms, where operators work in close proximity to the screens.
A2A’s control room is an environment where operational continuity and clarity of displayed information are essential. Real-time data and key parameters for managing the company’s services are monitored here, which is why choosing a high-resolution LED display proved particularly well suited compared with other display technologies. The horizontal banner format makes the most of the available space, offering a broad, continuous view free of interruptions or bezels that would otherwise break up the content.
Installation benefits
Adopting an LED display in a control room like A2A’s brings several concrete benefits. First, the high resolution and 1.2 mm pixel pitch ensure perfect readability of text, graphs and data even up close, reducing visual fatigue for operators who spend many hours in front of the screen. The seamless surface of the LED display, free of visible bezels or joints between modules, also allows a single large screen or several sections dedicated to monitoring different information streams simultaneously, boosting staff efficiency.
A further advantage is system reliability: LED technology guarantees continuous 24/7 operation, an essential condition in an environment where interruptions cannot be tolerated. High brightness and contrast ensure clear visibility regardless of ambient lighting, while the wide viewing angle allows multiple operators to read information correctly from different positions in the room. Finally, sturdy construction and low maintenance requirements make the installation a long-term solution with minimal management effort for the client.
Product used
For this project, Macropix chose Imaginis, its premium-quality product designed for high-profile installations. The module is based on Flip Chip COB (Chip on Board) technology, in which the LED chips are mounted directly onto the substrate and protected by a layer of epoxy resin: this ensures stable colours over time and high reliability even in demanding professional environments such as a control room, where the display must operate without interruption.
One of Imaginis’s key strengths is image quality: a 10,000:1 contrast ratio combined with 600 nits of brightness delivers deep blacks and extremely sharp images, while special optical materials reduce glare and produce a more natural, comfortable viewing experience even during extended use. The product is also TÜV SÜD certified for reduced blue-light emission, protecting the visual health of operators.
In summary, the product’s key strengths are:
- Sharp images and stable colours thanks to Flip Chip COB technology
- Visual comfort ensured by TÜV SÜD certification
- Slim, lightweight structure (5 kg cabinets, under 70 mm thick)
- Low energy consumption and front-access maintenance via magnetic mounts
- 170° viewing angle for optimal reading from any position
Thanks to these features, Imaginis stands out as the ideal choice for professional environments that demand continuity, precision and reliability — such as A2A’s control room.
